In Compton, Lupe Torres has her hands full with five children, ages 2-19. As I got to know her family, I really sensed that God was giving me an opportunity to show Christ in a special way. There was big stadium evangelistic event happening close by, and I was planning on going to hear one of my favorite Christian artists as well as a great message. I offered to take the older, teenage kids with me. This was certainly not something I normally do while working on a story. They enthusiastically agreed to go. I prayed that this experience would encourage and grow their faith. We sat in the stadium with 50,000 people worshiping the Lord through music and teaching; it was a great experience. The next day I asked Lupe what they thought and she said, they loved the outing, couldn’t stop talking about it and even her 14-year-old daughter downloaded one of the worship songs onto her mp3 player! I am thankful for work that God has called me to, the unique job I have to step briefly into peoples lives as I travel all over the world.
