Cleveland Browns players kicked footballs to fans as music rocked and balloons showered down. Yet this wasn’t a major sporting event. It was an outreach hosted by Grace Church in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, with Athletes in Action, Campus Crusade for Christ’s ministry to and through athletes.
More than 2,400 attendees listened to players Colt McCoy, John St. Clair, Kenyon Coleman and Reggie Hodges talk about the National Football League, family and spirituality. Each player clearly explained his testimony and gave an invitation for Christ.
Jennifer Kanaba’s family and friends filled an entire row. She had especially invited her nephew. “[It] coupled his love for football with what our family strongly believes in,” she says. “It’s important for all kids to see role models they respect step out in their faith.”
At the event, 80 people indicated decisions to receive Christ.
